Renewable Energy Advisor, North America | The Nature Conservancy


The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is hiring a Renewable Energy Advisor to serve as a strategic leader for its North America climate mitigation program. This remote role is for a professional who can develop, coordinate, and implement workstreams that advance the Conservancy’s renewable energy deployment strategy. As an expert advisor, you will lead the development of tools, practices, and demonstration projects. This is a critical opportunity to contribute to a world where both people and nature thrive.

About the Role


As a strategic advisor, you will provide technical and program support to TNC’s field operations. First, you will further the Conservancy’s Renewable Energy Deployment Strategy by developing and implementing projects to meet its goals. Consequently, you will work in collaboration with teams across the North America Region and the Global Tackle Climate Change team. You will ultimately advance renewable energy development practices, tools, and demonstration projects to meet climate, conservation, and community objectives. Therefore, you will build technical capacity within state business units and other TNC teams to support the use of these practices and tools.

 

Key Responsibilities


This position involves a combination of strategic leadership and hands-on project management. Specifically, responsibilities include:

  • Strategy & Leadership: You will lead priority workstreams within the Renewable Energy Deployment Strategy and ensure alignment across the North America Climate Mitigation Program. In addition, you will provide expert advice on renewable energy deployment to TNC business units.
  • Project & Budget Management: You will oversee and support project management, collaborate with cross-functional staff, and manage budgets to complete projects and meet deadlines.
  • Partnerships & Outreach: You will develop and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations and government agencies. Furthermore, you will communicate TNC’s mission persuasively to diverse groups, including key legislators and corporate leaders.

 

Qualifications for TNC Renewable Energy Advisor


  • Education & Experience: A bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of experience in conservation practice or a related field is a must. A master’s degree or 7-10 years of experience is a definite plus.
  • Technical Skills: You should have experience working with current renewable energy trends and practices in relevant disciplines and geographic regions. Moreover, you should have an ability to develop practical applications of scientific concepts for conservation purposes.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Experience managing complex projects, including finances, and coordinating the work of other professionals is required. Additionally, TNC values experience in fundraising, partnership development, and negotiation.

 

Compensation & Benefits


For candidates employed in the USA, the starting pay range is generally between $85,200 and $120,615. Various factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience, will determine the final salary. TNC offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including an 8% employer match for a 401(k) plan, health care, and generous paid time off.
